The Virus of Disaffection

ideoma

I sheltered myself from the world
And look at it through the protection of my window
Gazing without recognizing that world anymore
It has become an uninhabitable place
For those who have unhealed sentimental wounds
Or who require human contact to flourish
I sheltered myself from the world
For an innate preservation instinct
I safeguard myself from what destroys
The world has we used to know it
And every day we survive
Our way of being and living dies
And the world that resists out there
Is no longer the same that we used to call ours
The virus of disaffection spread into the air
And while it threatens to infect all of humanity
Fear and terror escalates
But if we can’t decide if we live or die
We can still choose how to live or how to die
Despite the fear, we can be courage
Despite the disbelief, we can be faith
Despite the destruction, we can be renewal
Despite the impotence, we can be solidarity
And thus despite the mortality, we will be a hymn to Life
